Happy Summer!

With tears rolling down my cheeks, it is time to say good bye! Have a wonderful summer, thank you for a great year, I hope to see you all in September!

Thank you to all of my students for a wonderful year! I can't believe that this year has come to an end, it has been full of craziness but we made it through!
When we started, I was excited to meet new students, get to know you and learn with you. We met some new students and friends were made easily and quickly. I felt that this group really worked well with each other and pushed each other to try new things, work hard to conquer challenges and have fun at the same time. I think my favourite day was the snow day that we did not have a snowball fight!!! I remember like it was yesterday, it was such a beautiful day and we decided to go up to the top of the hill and respected everyone's decision to play or not to play. It was SO MUCH FUN!!!!
Another thing that I loved was everyone's excitement for DPA, we went outside often and learned different activities- scarf tag, 4 square, wall ball, walks to the pond and to the trail to learn about trees. Then came March, who would have expected that we would not see eachother for the rest of the year! I personally have found it very challenging to keep you all engaged, create fun assignments, keep up with the other grade 6 classes and keep you all from getting overwhelmed. Because I am honest with you, I will tell you that I was overwhelmed, I cried a lot and still cry a lot... You have all done so well, even if you couldn't continue and learned "school" in non-traditional ways, I am proud of you!!! It takes a really strong person to listen to their inner voice and walk away when they need to. For those of you that hung on to the end- thank you for travelling on that journey with me and giving me feedback when things weren't working! I am not concerned if you missed some of your assignments, the amount of skills and things that you have learned these past 3 months would have never been possible without Covid-19 shutting the world down. From sewing, to cooking, to playing with your siblings, practicing musical instruments and creating relationships that have been missing because everyone is "too busy"! You have all grown, matured and are now ready for grade 7!
Have a wonderful summer, take care of yourself and your family, take a break from screens, and social media and have fun! There will probably never be another summer like this, so instead of being bored and frustrated, make the most out of it and have fun.
I miss you all so much, what ever happens in September, we'll face it then!

Last Monday of the year!

Have a wonderful afternoon! It is getting sunny up here, time to go swimming! There are no assignments this week. I have uploaded the 2 field trips that we will be taking this week- The Aviation Museum and the Art Museum. Take a look, explore and have fun. We are going to have our final good bye Google Meet on Thursday at 1:00, hopefully everyone will be able to make it! I will continue to be online everyday including Friday from 8-9 and 1-2 to support, hang out or ask questions.

Don't stress over Social studies, it's just a fun assignment, if you can have it completed by our GOOGLE MEET tomorrow at 1:00, we'll take it up then :)

Today's Assignment:

I hope that everyone is packed and ready for our trip Ottawa today. We will leave at 1:00 and arrive at the Parliament buildings approximately at 1:05. Since there are no tour guides right now, we have been granted free access to the buildings to explore and search for clues on our Scavenger Hunt. You are also able to make your own mixed grade 6 class groups of 4, have partners, or do a self guided tour! You'll find the Scavenger Hunt in the Social Studies classroom. When you have completed the Scavenger Hunt, please make a personal copy of it and hand it in to the appropriate teacher and correct assignment folder. Once you have finished the Scavenger Hunt, you can walk over to the Canadian Museum of History and take a look around. There is some really cool artifacts in this museum, some of the information you will be studying in Grade 7- war of 1812, take a look!! Enjoy the week! I'll be online all week, 8-9 and 1-2!

That was fun today, Mackenzie says it was hularical! Or Hysterical, or hularious... You pick! LOL Have a great weekend! The next 2 weeks, I have some fun assignments planned, we are going on field trips, we are going to do some work, we might have a dance party, lots of things... You still have assignments due today, Tuesday and Wednesday, make sure you get them handed in. If you are going into the classroom next week, we have put all of your belongings on the back wall under the middle window. Please take home everything that is yours, if you find something that is not yours (math textbook) please place it NEATLY on the back shelves! No assignments for today! Have a great rest of your day! I'm noticing that some people are having a tough time with the math lesson 7. I posted a note about graphing in the math classroom, read that! You need to think about graphs more than patterns for this lesson!
